Been There, Done That, Bought the T-shirt
Okay. I'll admit it. I have been known to buy into the hype.
I have gone on vacations to fun and exotic locales and come away with T-shirts commemorating the occasion.
Hard Rock Cafe? Yup. From Honolulu and London.
Planet Hollywood? Orlando.
At Niagara Falls I bought a t-shirt with a pseudo native american print of a wolf and another of an eagle.
From the Wayne County Fair way back in 1977 I bought a "Husky People" t-shirt, complete with a picture of a husky dog. (Mind you, he did not seem to be rooing.)
But for the life of me, I cannot imagine what would inspire someone to buy this:
That's right. It's a New Jersey Turnpike T-shirt.
"Gosh, hon. We've been on this road for almost 45 minutes. I wish there were some way I could hold onto these memories forever. ... I wonder if they have a T-shirt."
Let me know if you want me to pick one of these bad boys up for you. Will ship anywhere in the United States!

12 splash(es):
I'd buy one if it had some authentic Jersey Turnpike scenery, like oil refineries, swampland, junkyards, etc.

Maybe one with a picture of that bridge crossing over into Trenton that says "New Jersey makes, the World takes"!
Such a sweet little sentiment!
I have one already

I want a shirt with Dr. Sardonicus' wisdom. Shall wear it during PMS meltdown as a warning.
I kind of want one, just for the sheer stupidity of it. But people would probably think I'm just a bandwagon jumper, since I've been rooting for the Garden State Parkway for years.
Personally, I'd like an I-95 T-shirt. I-95 doesn't make me pay to drive on it. The NJ turnpike already makes enough of a profit off of me and my husband every year. I'm certainly not going to advertise for those fuckers. With the recent price hike it's downright highway robbery :)
Gwen -- not to be a jerk or anything, but i-95 through New Jersey *is* the NJ Turnpike...
That's seriously an awesome t-shirt, honoring the ugliest stretch of highway in the country. I would totally buy it. Does it come in black? Smog gray?
I'm dead serious. I would totally buy one. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for the East.
Is it? I'm thinking of PA I-95, which doesn't connect to the turnpike at all in this state. I'm an idiot :)
Gwen -- you're not an idiot. The idiots are the ones who managed to figure out how to have two separate spurs of I-95 running in parallel -- one in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania...

Ah yes, the infamous "New Jersey Gap". I've read that they're supposed to be working on that, though I can't remember any of the details offhand.
I saw these over the weekend, and have been kicking myself for not picking one up. Not sure why.
